Weekend days

Comment ça marche

  1. Count mode scans calendar days from the day after the start through the end date (inclusive), classifying each as a business day, a weekend day, or a holiday using your rules.
  2. Add mode steps forward from the start date, counting only business days until N is reached; negative N steps backward. Day 0 is the start date itself (when it is a business day).
  3. No country holiday calendar is assumed: the weekend is configurable and holidays are exactly the dates you enter, because public holidays vary by country and region.

Bon à savoir

  • In count mode, Monday → Friday in one week is 4 business days; the start day itself is not counted (the convention is labeled in the result).
  • Unparseable holiday lines are reported with their line number and skipped (never silently ignored).
  • Very long spans are capped at about 1,000 years of scanning; the result says when the cap was hit.

Foire aux questions

Which weekends and holidays are used?
Yours. The weekend is configurable (Saturday and Sunday by default) and holidays are whatever dates you enter. No country calendar is assumed.
Is the start date counted?
In count mode, days are counted from the day after the start through the end date (Mon to Fri in one week is 4 days). In add mode, N business days are stepped forward.
What happens to invalid holiday lines?
They are listed with their line number so you can correct them. Silently ignoring an unparseable date could cause errors in payroll or SLA deadlines.
